Valentines day: Its okay to be by yourself

Hello everyone! Hmm, Valentines day. Yet again I find myself on the border of loneliness as i am surrounded by the instagrammed pictures of #blessed other halves recieveing their either: extremely overpriced or dirt cheap, gifts. So, you may come to the conclusion that valentines day sucks. But it doesn't have to. take the opportunity to love yourself.

The first best thing to do is either go on a social media detox for atleast 3 days to rid yourself of the #luckygirls that almost poision your feed. I know most people would rather not do that, so you just need to be at peace with the fact its valentines day. And don't worry about it, because you have to admit, that #luckygirl may just  be #brokenhearted or #single by the end of the month when she finds out she wasnt the only one in the basket. But never mind that.

Just realise that its a day where people show love and appreciation for people. you could make your valentine for your best friend, or your mum, or your cat. whatever suits you.

The next thing you want to do is plan a day for yourself. I know that this post goes up post valentines, but that is actually a plus, as the restaurants and attractions you love wont be crowded with couples. So, in your 'pamper package' you could plan a day out post valentines to buy all the half price chocolate with another single bestie, or just yourself. Treat yourself too! Buy that frock you have always wanted. or those snazzy socks. or that new blender. Whatever makes you feel good inside and out. Some good places to go on your pamper package are: beaches (the sea salt and swish of the waves will do you good) a spa (I think a mud mask and jacuzzi explains itself) and just to the countryside to walk the dog, because as I find, its very calming.

however, you might want to stay home in your pj's and watch Netflix while you gorge on that half price chocolate we just discussed. and that is okay too.  if it makes you feel good, you do it. (unless its illegal, then you do not do it)

now comes the evening. I know what you are thinking ~ the idea that right now, many couples will be going out to eat before ~~~~~~concemating~~~~~~ (uuugh) the day~ it gives me the heebie jeebies too. There is a certain way to put that thought to rest : PAMPER EVENING.

I do love a good pamper evening. Think about it for a second: relaxing water, indulgent snacks, moisturising facemask. Just the thought of it makes me think im relaxing in the pool in the bahamas. so, here is a simple guideline on what to include in your evening.

  1. A manipedi. Manicure Pedicure. Take a moment to remove chipped nail polish on hands and feet , and file them to shape and remove ridges. we will paint them at the end of the evening. now, since your hands go through alot , soak them in olive oil and don some washing up gloves. Leave this treatment on for half an hour- and rinse when done. this leaves your hands feeling incredibly soft.
  2. now for some love to the face: remove makeup and pluck eyebrows to remove the monobrow hair and do not overpluck. Take care of upper lip area by buying a hair lightening kit from superdrug  and dyeing the area. This makes dark hairs invisivble. depending on the kit, the treatment should be left on for around 8 mins. else, you could end up having redness and irritation around the area, which will draw more attention. once you have plucked and lightened , rinse your face with water only to remove any access dye, plucked eyebrow hairs that didn't leave the face, and to get rid of the chemicals in your micellar water or makeup wipes.
  3. bath time/shower time. if you have a bath, light some candles (carefully) and throw in a bath product. today, i will be bathing in a cup of epsom salts and a lush bath bomb.  Epsom salts are beneficial to you as they relieve the joints to exclude muscle pain (a good idea after a hike) and can aid the dreaded period cramp. soak up the salts and bath water, give yourself a head massage when washing the hair by rubbing shampoo in slowly into every hair follicle. cover yourself in a lovely scented body wash and rinse. Ahh, so relaxing. read a book to calm. If you only have a shower, make sure its invigorating by using your fave body scrub. i suggest the Breakfast Scrub by soap & glory.
  4. once you get out of your washing session, its time for the best part: a face mask. for valentines, i will be using the Lush Rosey Cheeks face mask. its amazing at making your skin glow. while its on, put some cucumber over your eyes. One time, i was playing a spa app for 5 year olds. I remember the model in the game put lemon over her eyes. please, do not put lemon over your eyes.
  5. once masked, take the opportunity to watch an episode of friends or something. whatever floats your boat. put on a lip scrub. I will be using the lush popcorn scrub- however, if you dont have one, mix some olive oil and sugar together and rub onto the lips; which makes it totally edible.
  6. once you have removed the mask,ad eaten the yummy scrub, give your face a quick wash with a non-microbeaded wash, one thats mosturising; a simple facewash will do.
  7. now its time for the cool down: watch bridget jones while finishing off the session by coating your nails. its your choice of snack but i must warn you, you are what you eat! i would not recommend a regular appointment to a fast food restaurant, but the occasional feast is okay. i would apply this principle to sugar-loaded foods, too. eat some fruit like strawberries. dipped in chocolate. Tee-hee!

I hope you enjoy your valentines day. go to bed with a warm cup of coco or milk, and watch netflix. remember its okay to be by yourself! learn to love your own company.
Lots of love this valentines,
Emily xxxx

Lush Products and review

hello everyone! im  back for another post.

recently, i headed out to buy some new Lush products, as i had sadly run short.

i get lush bath bombs in batches of three to keep myself stacked up, so today i will be reviewing the following products:
~Intergallactic bath bomb
~The magic of christmas bubble wand
~Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar

the first product i layed eyes on was the Intergallactic bath bomb. it grabbed my attention first when i saw it on one of Zoella's vlogs on her second channel, MoreZoella. This bath bomb supposedly bursts to make a array of blues, purples and pinks and white undertones across your bathtub. I have a preference of blue bathbombs, as they make me feel like im swimming in the medditeranean sea- which has crystal blue waters.
i had been waiting a long time to get my hands on this particular bomb, which first came out at LUSH' Oxford street store. when purchasing this bomb, the kind woman at the till told me it was one of their best sellers throughout the time it had been on sale.

I would say the Intergallactic bath bomb has a very minty smell, which is fantastic to make you clear your mind and truly ~relax~

The Magic Of Christmas bubble wand has to be my favourite. Held on a cinnamon stick and decorated with red ribbon and a dingly bell, its a lovely smelling thing, with the main scent being a spicy cinnamon and a zingy orange after smell. i really like this bubble wand, i will be using it alot!

the last thing i will be reviewing is the Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar, which is a minty/pumpkiny smell. its very glittery so prepare to look shimmery when leaving this bubbly autumn bath. i think this bath bomb is super- and i cant wait to use it.

i hope you enjoyed my first review ~ Emily xx
